Who are we?
Hi we are the Island Wedding Collective. We are a group of industry professionals that just love talking all things weddings. Our passion for delivering sensational events and our mission to raise the bar for weddings in our region, has bought us together. Our aim is to arm you with all of the information you need to plan your special day, and deliver all of the latest trends and ideas to make your wedding day stand out above the rest. We talk about all of the dos and don’ts, the good the bad and the ugly of weddings, gifting you our years of experience and knowledge to make sure everything for your event runs smoothly and efficiently. We believe that your job as a bride (or groom) is to sit back, pop the bubbles and enjoy the ride. Abbie - The Shearing Shed
Abbie was the visionary behind the stunning wedding venue located on a 20 acre property on the outskirts of Cowes named The Shearing Shed.
The Shearing Shed was originally built in the 1950’s and this beautiful property has been home to four generations and initially farmed over 2500 sheep. Seeing it’s potential, Abbie and her family lovingly renovated the property to enhance it’s original character, while providing a blank canvas in it’s interior for you to create your dream event. There is family history in every piece of timber that creates a warm, rustic ambiance and with many couples now having tied the knot at the venue, the stories and memories will continue to flow for generations to come.
Abbie is the expert professional that you need by your side, her outstanding service and and experienced staff will ensure you have a flawless event, allowing you to kick your heels up and celebrate with your loved ones.
ABBIE:
Hates being in the spot light even though she used to get on stage and perform. (on that note… if you should be so lucky to hear her sing…one word…. nightingale!)
Is a total book worm. Nothing beats curling up with a good book and hot drink in front of the fire.
Not a big drinker, remember hot drink and a book for the win! (We can always tell when Abbies had a hard day, wait.. what? Is that your second glass?.. whoa there Abbie, back away from the Gin)
Kristie - Over the Top Events
Kristie is the crazy creative of the group. Her vision and passion for capturing the essence of the look and feel you would like to achieve for your wedding day, speaks volumes in everything that she does. Her clients have commented that when they walk down the aisle, they are truly blown away when they see it all come together, and that it is like walking into a surprise made just for the both of them on their special day.
Every time that Kristie walks into a room with a client and listens to their vision, a thousand different ideas jump into her mind. Foliage billowing from the ceiling, candle light flickering on the tables, ladies gossiping on an antique chair in the corner, she can picture every delicious little detail of the event and how the space will transform. She can even walk into an empty paddock and see the guests mingling right there in front of her.
Her experience in the hospitality and events industry have given her all of the practical knowledge that is required to plan a wedding, and to ensure that it is a functional working space for your suppliers and a comfortable place for your guests to stay and enjoy. This combined with her talent for creating statement styling pieces means that you are sure to be impressed when you walk into one of Over the Top’s weddings.
KRISTIE:
Sings really loudly when things get tense or stressful. (Pitch Perfect 90’s freedom is her jam right now)
Tries really hard to loose weight but is addicted to red wine (we think she’s bloody gorgeous and doesn’t drink as much wine as she would have you believe, pass the cheese with that pino… cheers)
Can be a bit of a loner! (Seriously, her idea of the perfect weekend is staying in a hotel in Melbourne by herself. Hours of shopping, movies and SLEEP!)
Lisa-Anne - Celebrant
You will probably catch Lisa-Anne in the middle of weaving a story, a cracking smile on her face and no doubt a glass of wine in hand! She reckons life is pretty awesome living on an Island, sure it’s way down south, far away from her Queensland roots but with a great hubby, three super fantastic kids, a crazy gorgeous dog - Buffy and so many awesome friends, she is stoked to call Phillip Island home.
As a marriage celebrant, Lisa-Anne is down with doing your ceremony your way. With her creative passion she will encourage you to be honest with yourself and your dreams for the day, then guide you in pulling it all together, after-all your wedding ceremony sets the tone for the best day of your life.
LISA-ANNE:
Loves legwarmers (lift up those 70’s style flare jeans that she’s crushing on right now and underneath will be sparkly legwarmers guaranteed)
Loves to party! Will always find an excuse to party and cannot be the first to leave said party (this chick seriously.. “oh it’s just a quiet afternoon between friends”, next minute table top dancing and shots!)
Finds “me time” with weekly dance classes, pilates, animal flo and singing (yep, Lisa-Anne, Abbie and Kristie are in a singing group! La la laaaaa)
